What is E-Commerce
The definition states that e-commerce electronic commerce (e-commerce) is a sub-class electronic business (e-business) and consists of the purchase, sale and exchange of goods and / or services via computer networks ( Internet for example) where transactions are carried out or provided electronically.
This definition of e-commerce does not apply only to the web. In fact electronic commerce and transactions in business to business (B2B) in the 70s via EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) using VANs (Value Added Networks).
The definition covers e-commerce business four main categories: B2B, B2C, C2B and C2C.
B2B – Business to Business
(Business to Business)
Companies doing business with them. For example, manufacturers who sell to distributors and wholesalers selling to retailers. Here the price is based on the volume and is often negotiable.
B2C – Business to Consumer
(Business to Consumer)
Businesses that sell to the general public, typically through catalogs and online stores. This model is what most people have in mind when it comes to electronic commerce.
Do you have trouble finding a specific book?, Need to buy a computer on a measure? Would you buy a trip to a tropical island?
With the advent of electronic commerce, these three things can be bought in minutes, practically without human intervention.
C2B – Consumer to Business
(Consumer to Business)
Here, a consumer online publishing his project on a budget and soon, some companies review the consumer’s requirements and listed the project. The consumer reviews the proposals and selected the company to implement its project.
C2C – Consumer to Consumer
(Consumer to Consumer)
There are many websites that offer Free classified ads, online auctions and forums where people can buy and sell through the online payment systems like PayPal through which you can send and receive money online with ease. Classic examples is eBay.
